Good Morning Curlies, today's post is a follow up from last weeks wig experiment, and I have come to a couple of conclusions:
1. Whoever said you can't have your cake and eat it too is a liar. The wig is a great way for you ladies that are battling whether to return to extensions to feed your appetite for the quick and easy luxurious lifestyle or the nubian natural niche to satisfy both desires.
2. Going this route still allows you to undergo your daily maintenance routines while giving yourself a break from the dreadful hairstyle monotony.
3. This may be the oddest conclusion of them all but, wearing my wig made me realize when it comes to women's hair men truly "DO NOT KNOW WHAT THEY WANT." Over the past weekend I've had more quality compliments and relationship advances than the entire time period I've worn my natural hair (key word was QUALITY). Men say "black women just need to wear their real hair and stop following victim to images portrayed in the media" but if we are guilty of following victim then men sure as hell are too. If this was untrue they wouldn't cleave to so many women who reflect those images. Over the course of the weekend I heard, "I love your natural hair like that" and "Wow, you should wear your hair in that style more often, it really "SUITS" you." All the while I'm thinking fool this is a wig!!! I'm not having a soap box about black men, but all I'm saying is stop fronting like you are so disgusted with black women wearing extensions and just be honest with the world and say "as long as it looks good on you, we really don't care how you wear it."
All in all, the wig was a big success and to be honest I'm wearing it now, and probably will continue to wear it throughout the remainder of the week. This has been your wig update, let us know what you would like to hear!!!!

Hey Ladies, so today I was finally the day that I said NO MORE!!! I'm in desperate need of a change. So I made my way out to my neighborhood beauty supply store and picked up a WIG! Now before the Natural Nazis loose their mind and decide to stone me, I would like to say that making the change is very difficult and I have survived two months without a press or a weave thus my life was lacking variety. I NEEDED TO BE FREE!! So I bought a cheap $22.00 synthetic wig with a seemingly natural texture and this is what I ended up with:
I'm at the doctor waiting to be called and the lady at the desk keeps asking me what type of products I use, how did I twist my hair, and how do I maintenance it nightly! MAM! It's 8am, NOT NOW!!!! #fmynatural

So yesterday morning I wake up to get ready for work and there is a jungle on top of my head. So I go through my usual ritual of washing and blow drying, but quite honestly I was dying for a new style. So I proceed to grab my small tooth comb to untangle my ends and low and behold the damage below:
Todays post is largely off topic, but for a great reason. I just read someone's Facebook status who said they "feel sorry for the way society treats dark skin women" I'd like to go on record saying don't feel sorry for me. I'm so tired of people who think they are defending dark skin women by making apologies. I have never felt inferior to a woman no matter her skin tone. I'm not saying the issue doesn't exist, yet it is only prevalent to those who lack self confidence. I'm dark skinned, nappy headed and BEAUTIFUL. So don't feel sorry for me because I have nothing to be apologetic for.

Hello Ladies today I am posting a video on the kinky curly products and methods of use. Now to be completely honest, I'm more of a Shea Moisture product girl myself, but I definitely use their products and see the benefits. If you are looking for enhanced curl patterns through the use of all natural products then this video is for you. Be advised that different hair types may require different products, but I find this one to be most universally acceptable. Please note that the woman in the video has hair down to her butt and it is your best interest to be realistic!!!! Your hair will grow and if you keep it up it may grow quickly but don't expect over night success. I mean you can certainly have hair like this by the time you are 70 :-) (JK) Honestly, the key is to know your hair type and growth rate. This way you will be able to chart your success and which products work for you. I hope this video helps. Note, the products are available at all Target retail stores (but are usually sold out) and Whole Foods stores (nearly always in stock) if you're interested in giving it a try. Stay Natural, Stay Beautiful, and if you have to go back to extensions Stay Fly (it's a great accessory)

Hello Ladies, (and the occasional man) it seems like it has been a minute since I had a post, so here goes nothing. I have been doing pretty well with my natural hair here lately, being pretty patient and taking it a day at a time. But recently I have kicked my workout regiment back up into high gear and my natural hair has decided not to follow the trend. At the start of my workout my hair is curly and in tact but by the end I look like a freaky Macy Gray impersonator. And lord forbid I decide to get into the sauna, whoa! that hair looks fried, dyed, and laid to the side! Now I refuse to sacrifice physical health and appearance for hair, but honestly what good is one without the other? Whatever happened to the total package? In my quest for a solution I have asked many of the gym naturals what they find effective but all I get is "girl wear a scarf" or "just twist it up and workout." Now I don't know about you, but I refuse to walk around the gym looking like snoop dog, or tupac so I really need your help! I have decided before jumping in the sauna today I will try putting a ton of leave in conditioner in my hair to soak up the heat but when it comes to a workout style I am stumped. So to all you aspiring Madam CJ Walkers' Please help me, halloween is over and so is slavery therefore it's no excuse for me to walk around look a mess.

Ok ladies, todays post is something I feel very strongly about. For all of you consistent weave wearers who have just made"The Switch" have you noticed when you are out in public the caliber of men who try to "holla" are much different as a natural? This really pisses me off. Just because I'm natural does not mean every joe blow who comes by and drops a line is worth my time. I mean the stigma that comes along with the natural hair is crazy. When I was avidly wearing weave many men would not approach me because they thought i came off "unapproachable" or looked too "high maintenance" and quite frankly I miss those days of not being attacked by every person on the street who thinks "oh, she's natural I can probably get her." Call it stuck up or what you will, but I am not in the mood for it. Save the "my sista" comments and realize that natural women don't want busters either. Sometimes when I find myself trapped in a dead end conversation with someone who refuses to take the "I'm sorry I'm in a relationship" line as a "HELL NO" I wish I could just snap my fingers and my weave would appear and he would say "you ain't all that anyway" and just walk away. I'd take such ignorant backlash any day if it meant no more busters. SO MEN, be advised when dealing with women who are making "The Switch" the only thing that has changed is our hair and not our standards! #FMN

Today's hairstyle is a mix between a dry twist set and my original afro. I gave myself a good wash last night after leaving the game (which is another post in itself) applied a Marula all natural hot oil treatment (a great product by the good people at Motions) and applied a deep condition using my shea moisture curl smoothie (a little trick I learned from my girl Nikki B). Overall I'm pretty pleased considering I've definitely had worst hair days. For all my natural girls out there if you have any hairstyles that you think are quick and cute (the key word being cute) please let me know because I am in desperate need of some diva diversity.

For those of you out there who don't know me, I am currently a resident of Atlanta Georgia. Last night I was exhausted after a long day of work so I went home and laid it down. I was too tired to touch my hair so I set my alarm just to get up and twist my hair so I wouldn't wake up looking like nightmare on Elm Street. Tired and all at 11:00 pm my alarm sounded and I drug myself to the bathroom, grabbed some shea moisture curling smoothie, and twisted my hair with one eye open and one eye shut. Well unfortunately when I woke this morning mother nature had decided to bless my city with the thunderstorm from hell. So as I prepared for work, untwisted my hair, and reached for the front door, my old friend humidity came knocking and my oh so wavy twist set turned into a hot ass mess of an afro. Now had I known about the "possible chance of showers" or better yet had in my 22 inch wavy indian hair and closure I could have saved myself some time and enjoyed some much needed extra time of sleep #FMN
I'm officially approaching the one month anniversary of making "THE SWITCH" from Weave Queen to Mother Nature and needless to say "life for me ain't been no crystal stair." Over the past few years I've grown accustom to the care free wake and shake lifestyle associated with wearing hair extensions and recently have been turned off by the countless hours associated with being natural. Now I know some of you out there may be thinking "oh no another identity stricken sister" and quite frankly if that's how you feel then this might not be the blog for you, but for those of you who can relate lets keep it real. Every morning when I have to spray a shine sheen, apply a leave in conditioner, pin and press or twist and knot, all i can think is F#*K MY NATURAL!!!! Now hear me clearly, the challenge doesn't mean I'm giving up but every day I feel like I'm on a countdown to breakdown. So with this blog I will be documenting my progress, my frustration, and hopefully my success while informing you on some great products and receiving your input as well. So for all you ladies who are making "THE SWITCH" and aren't up for the criticism from the radical hair crew, consider this a safe place to say #FMN!
